Last night I attended a Portuguese poetry workshop celebrating the works of Pessoa and other Portuguese Poets. It was a wonderful evening – Fado playing softly in the background, pasteis de natas, carnations to honour Freedom Day, an art installation exploring Pessoa, a chance to read poetry in Portuguese and listen to the beautiful work of an emerging Portuguese poet.
Cocooned in the lilt of the Portuguese tongue, the scent of natas and a balmy full moon evening, I could easily imagine that I was sitting in Lisbon.
Here are a few photo’s of the evening…

Some terrific photos of your night out (the pasteis look divine!). What a terrifc way to have spent dia 25 de abril. Planning to head back to Lisboa anytime soon? Cristina
Hi Cristina,
Not soon enough I’m afraid. I have to be patient – I will return to my beautiful Lisboa! And yes the pasteis were yummy
Lily, I know what you mean! My mum was telling me the other day how the cherry harvest has been pretty good this year. It was almost enough for me to run to the airport and leave it all behind for Portugal. Tenho muitos saudades. (But I have to be patient for now!)
