Last night I attended a Portuguese poetry workshop celebrating the works of Pessoa and other Portuguese Poets. It was a wonderful evening – Fado playing softly in the background, pasteis de natas, carnations to honour Freedom Day, an art installation exploring Pessoa, a chance to read poetry in Portuguese and listen to the beautiful work of an emerging Portuguese poet.
Cocooned in the lilt of the Portuguese tongue, the scent of natas and a balmy full moon evening, I could easily imagine that I was sitting in Lisbon.
